چکیده

We have developed a new approach to shape-based tracking and analysis of cardiac MR images using geometrically deformable templates (GDTs). We propose to use an energyminimizing deformable template which can deform into similar shapes under the in uence of external forces. The degree of deformation of the template from its equilibrium shape is expressed by the amount of bending energy which is necessary to bend an idealized thinplate of metal. By minimizing this shape energy along with the image energy terms of the classic deformable model, the deformable template is attracted to objects in the image whose shape is similar to its equilibrium shape. The energy minimization problem of the deformable template is formulated in a probabilistic framework and solved by a stochastic relaxation technique, Simulated Annealing. We have applied the algorithm for the shapebased tracking and analysis of the aorta in MR cine sequences as well as for the segmentation and tracking of the myocardium.

Analysis and Synthesis of Facial Expressions by Feature-Points Tracking and Deformable Model

Face expression recognition is useful for designing new interactive devices offering the possibility of new ways for human to interact with computer systems. In this paper we develop a facial expressions analysis and synthesis system. The analysis part of the system is based on the facial features extracted from facial feature points (FFP) in frontal image sequences. Selected facial feature poi...

Local Geometry of Deformable Templates

In this paper, we discuss a geometrical model of a space of deformable images or shapes, in which infinitesimal variations are combinations of elastic deformations (warping) and of photometric variations. Geodesics in this space are related to velocity-based image warping methods, which have proved to yield efficient and robust estimations of diffeomorphisms in the case of large deformation. He...

Multi-object Deformable Templates Dedicated to the Segmentation of Brain Deep Structures

We propose a new way of embedding shape distributions in a topological deformable template. These distributions rely on global shape descriptors corresponding to the 3D moment invariants. In opposition to usual Fourier-like descriptors, they can be updated during deformations at a relatively low cost. The moment-based distributions are included in a framework allowing the management of several ...
